Mafalda Silva (she /her) completed a graduate diploma in Art Therapy (Master level program) at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (TATI). Mafalda is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario. She has experience working with youth and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, in both individual and group settings. Mafalda is passionate about using art as an accessible way to connect, support and empower individuals. Her therapeutic practice is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally sensitive, and anti-oppressive framework that is collaborative and recognizes that we all have creative potential that can be explored for personal growth. In addition to art therapy, she integrates various psychotherapy approaches including CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and mindfulness tools. Mafalda offers support to all gender identities, who may be experiencing concerns related to trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss, among others. She can provide art therapy services in English and Portuguese, and is proficient in offering sessions in-person and in an online format. Mafalda is an award-winning researcher (CATA-ACAT Student Research Grant 2022) and author of the published article: Storytelling Embroidery Art Therapy Group With Portuguese-Speaking Immigrant Women in Canada.
