Job Title: On-site Art Therapy Supervisor/Education Coordinator

Position: Part time, contract (16hrs/wk) Mondays and Fridays, Sept-Dec, Jan-April. May-August hours TBD

Job will start for training at the end of August 2021

There is a possibility for additional hours in 2022. To be discussed.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in art therapy
  • Permit to practice psychotherapy from the Order of Psychologists
  • 5 years of experience in supervising art therapy interns
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
  • Online clinical experience an asset
  • Have professional liability insurance
  • Bilingual (English & French) oral and written
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Good computer knowledge (office 365 applications, zoom)
  • Be available in the Montreal vicinity for when on-campus program resumes

Responsibilities:

1) Supervision and Coordination of Art Therapy Interns:

The main role of the onsite supervisor is to plan and implement on-site supervision of art therapy interns, which includes:

  • Weekly dyad supervision sessions and weekly individual supervision sessions for 4 art therapy interns.
  • Occasional observation of groups
  • Conduct intake of individual clients and liaise with their parents/workers
  • Oversee weekly charting notes and art documentation of art therapy interns
  • Attend clinical rounds (Fridays, 3:30 – 5:00)
  • Coordinate with the academic supervisor as needed
  • Conduct 1st and 2nd term evaluations of interns
  • Participate in intern and participant orientations in September, leading the art therapy workshops
  • Oversee the inventory and purchase of art materials
  • Oversee case presentations of art therapy interns in Rounds in March
  • Oversee termination summaries of art therapy interns

2) Research coordination

Support the Centre in developing research projects by:

  • Developing and reviewing consents for clinical and research programs
  • Consulting on and researching questions regarding ethics
  • Review and editing of documents as needed
  • Recruiting research participants
  • Developing and reviewing budgets related to projects

3) Clinical and logistical consultation

  • Compile and edit composite termination summaries to submit to referring workers at the end of each clinical year (Art therapy, Drama therapy, Music therapy and Dance Movement therapy) as per inter-agency agreements
  • Participate in intake interviews of all new participants (every other year, late August – September)
  • Organize clinical schedule for September-April, including each modality and individual therapies in conjunction with participant abilities and goals.
  • Organize orientation activities in fall & winter to insure proper training of all interns
  • Organize therapeutic spaces/ oversee maintenance of equipment
  • Oversee tasks of the Centre’s Engaged Centre Scholars (2)
  • Overseeing the maintenance of participant charts and archived files, including appropriate storage of artworks produced in therapy.
  • Organize staff meetings with Director and staff
  • Support in the organization of events (holiday party, graduation)

Related tasks, as time is available

  • Research articles/books on emergent themes and communicate to interns and staff
  • Purchase and maintain the Centre’s resource library acquisitions
  • Circulation of these to appropriate staff and students
  • Support Logistical staff when necessary
  • Maintain ethical standards for file maintenance
  • Maintain ethical standards for all consent forms and client documentation
